This is a song actually about a man, 10cc's Eric Stewart, who doesn't say "I love you" to his wife Gloria enough. So she complained to him that he must no longer love her and she finally got upset. So he wrote this love song for her without actually saying 'I love you'. He wanted to show the conflict between feeling a certain way, but avoiding the words 'I love you'. In the song he explained exactly how deeply he adored her, desperately pined for her when gone, how he hung her picture on his wall and gazed at it - all without using those three little words.

So over three weeks they created a massive choir-like sound out of taping three of the band member's voices singing one note (aaaaahhhhhh) as long as they could hold their breath. They did that 16 times on 16-tracks then copied it to stereo. With 13 notes to use with a top C and a bottom C, all totaling 624 voices, they basically created a keyboard whose keys are human voices going up and down the chromatic scale.

Using human voices for different chords, yeah I thought that was pretty cool.
