Today was tough

Dad has refused to eat or drink all day and has been in an extremely agitated state all day. The hospital finally put him on a saline drip but the next 24 hours are critical. But it is clear he cannot return home. It was really hard explaining this to mum.

My husband is going to bring the kids up tomorrow, my daughter has crucial exams coming up and i think it best she gets the chance to see him now so there are no regrets if she can't in the next few weeks.

That’s so sad, I’m so sorry you and your family are going through this. I know the agitated state you described. I experienced it with my dad, and felt completely helpless. Making it even worse, he didn’t recognize me or my sister, which only added to his agitation so we couldn’t even comfort him. The doctors made us leave his room until they could sedate him. It was heartbreaking, and something I’ll never forget.
@blackarcher256 he kept asking who he was, aftervtelling him his name i asked if if he knew who i was ... and he said "you're my daughter, you're my life"

He also knew mum was hos wife but didn't know himself

@InOtterWords That’s so sad…But I’m glad he knew who you and your mum are, and hope it gave him some comfort.
@blackarcher256 that is what i hope. I think he was especially reassured by my mum
