Today was tough

Dad has refused to eat or drink all day and has been in an extremely agitated state all day. The hospital finally put him on a saline drip but the next 24 hours are critical. But it is clear he cannot return home. It was really hard explaining this to mum.

My husband is going to bring the kids up tomorrow, my daughter has crucial exams coming up and i think it best she gets the chance to see him now so there are no regrets if she can't in the next few weeks.

I have done this rodeo a couple of times, with my mother in law and my own mother. And it seems my wife will go the same route, but thats still a way off hopefully. I wish I had something hopeful to say on the subject, but I dont. What I can say from experience is that shielding those members of your family who really dont need to be exposed to this is a kindness. Let them remember the person your father used to be. Where he is going totally lacks dignity. Do what you can to allow it to live the memories of those who love him...😷
