I used to have some seriously awful gas/farts until a medical procedure found blood vessels leaking in my intestines and they were cauterized.
That being said before the procedure it was terrible. Any ways a bunch of Army guys went on a fishing trip taking me along. We ate deer stakes, drank beer, and had fresh caught fried fish for dinner, and all piled into the tent after more beer drinking to sleep. And yes, it started to pour down rain with heavy lightening and I farted, at first the gasps of air as if the guys were drowning and just hitting the surface. Then the cries and complaints as I let number two go. Guys bailed from sleeping bags screaming that their contacts had melted to their eyeballs. gas bomb number three sent them out in the rain sitting and gasping that fresh air. I fell deeply and quietly asleep and woke up in the morning with only one other guy in the tent body wise in his sleeping bag and his head poking out the zipper door. the rest were under pickup trucks or in the cabs of them. 12 guys total counting me.
@LilPrincess The tent we stayed in was a sixteen-person tent one of the guys owned for family outings and reunions, and he swore he gave it to Goodwill because he could not get the odor out and he was traumatized.
Over the years I have stories from seeing raccoons destroy tents, skunks spraying dogs and drunks trying to set up camp. My years now consist of an easier way of enjoying nature.
A year ago camping at Lake Convict and the winds were so strong it was blowing our tent down and over our bodies while we were trying to sleep through the night. Woke up in the morning w our campsite a mess and the tent completely broken😭 lol it was funny in the morning but surviving the night was awful. We were huddled together with our dog between us trying to sleep through the noise. Haha wanna go back but in the summer instead of fall.
30 mins into a three day camping trip with the school I manages to fall fully clothed into a river with my rucksack. Every piece of clothing and bedding I had was completely soaked. I just wanted to go back, but the teachers made me stay the whole trip, mainly wearing clothes borrowed from other people 😥
So many to choose from... but the best was an in-tent belching contest with my college buddies. We'd just finished finals our sophomore year, and headed up to the mountains to camp, fish and drink a LOT of beer. Mike, Anthony and I were hammered and decided it would be a great idea to have a belching contest in Mike's tent. Drink beer, swallow some air and do your best grizzly bear imitation. It got to be Anthony's turn, but he was struggling to burp. He paused and said, "I think I got something stuck in my throat..." And with that, the dumbass sticks his finger down his throat and ends up projectile vomiting inside the tent. There is moving quick, and then there is dodging flying puke in a tent, quick. I managed to escape unscathed. Mike and Anthony...not so much 🤣
Worst camping experience was when the straight line windstorm came up too fast for us to relax and us running for our lives with the dog to the car for shelter as 100 yr old trees were falling left and right around us. One was downed 3 ft from the tent and 5 across the path we escaped.
You really need to go camping with better people. It can be fun. Fire starting can be tricky but learn how to do it. Camping with no fire isn’t camping
When I was in the Scouts, the leader had us practice setting up the tents in the hall. 1st attempt with the lights on, second in the dark. Which was a good thing too. Our first District Camp we got there after dark, no moon. Only 3 of us had torches. We had a site set up in no time. We blitzed that Camp by the way. The maximum score to get was 1,700 points. We somehow earned 2,500. We were just so excited about everything camping... Not like kids today.
Camping with my very young kids….The people next to us were getting busy in their pop-up camper. They forgot to install the braces for the extension part where the bed was. They were very large people, and were apparently going at it quite vigorously. The extension part collapsed, the zippered screen window part tore, and dumped them out on the ground in view of my kids, stark naked. Of course, my kids very loudly announced that fact, and wondered equally loudly what those people were doing. The best I could come up with was….uh they were wrestling. Epic fail!!
When I don't want to start a fire...i almost burn down everything...the one night I wanted to start a fire,I couldn't. I called my best friend and he suggested paper. So i burned everything paper related in my car from receipts, to my paperwork from work, and my cars owners manual.
@Bowenw I once woke up to a tent full of bumble bees...i had to scoot on my back to get out then zipped the tent shut...i camped out on the table outside
@LilPrincess My fellow Souts were super pissed off at me, but the Troop Scout Master was like, "Eh, it happens". However I remembered a bit ago that later that night we were kicked out of camp because a few of my fellow Scouts decided to put some kerosene in a STYROFOAM cup and light it on fire to watch it burn, not realizing the cup would melt and spread fire everywhere in a non contained area, one of them being the Scout Master's son. They tried blaming it on me, but the Council knew they were lying and kicked them out of Scouts, and the rest of us out of the camp.
@NativePortlander1970 I didn't make it to the girl scouts because I got kicked out for the whole starting fire thing. Not my fault I was smart enough to bring a lighter rather than the whole stick thing
