I have noticed nobody really cares about the politics in the world anymore

I guess most people on here are Americans and we all know that they don’t give a jot about the rest of the world, just their own country and you had better not criticise that!

As ‘the leader of the free world’ surely the people of America 🇺🇸 should be more in tune with what is happening elsewhere in the world, but no just their domestic crisis and the corruption that is rife there. Like all ‘empires’ they will fade into insignificance when the new empire - RussoChina holds sway and economic power over them.

So - our colleges coast to coast are in turmoil over Gaza, we approve more than $60 bil in aid for Ukraine and Taiwan, over 41 million Americans work in jobs supported by international trade, 360,000 refugees are granted full citizenship since 2020 ... And "Americans don't give a jot about the rest of the world" ???

Maybe you should rethink your question, or just stick to planning your next shopping in Costa Brava. But if you really feel like catching up, here -

Most Americans can in fact handle criticism, because we get a lot from people who think they know us but don't really.

Anyone who believes that the psycho-politico garbage that gets spewed on SW or other social media is what Americans truly think and how we actually relate to each other, will always be badly confused. And as far as China, Russia, Saudi Arabia, India or whoever wherever "running the world" - you'll lose more money on that bet than you will ever win.

Anything to add, or is "discuss" not in your vocabulary ?

It's like @GuiltyBiStander. Said ...

You aren't going to get any good answers here regarding politics unless you are trying to create a statistical analysis report of how much people fathom regarding olitics on SW ....

You are better off seeking out political forums, or finding a good objective political journalis(s)t to get some background and formulate an opinion or answer ...
Not sure Russia is gonna have much to do with it, if anyone is gonna take over, it's China.

With all due respect to the World, the USA should be focusing on itself as the last 4+ Presidents have all been spending more than the previous President and we're out living our abilities to pay.

As of May 1, 2024, the U.S. Treasury estimates that the federal government's debt is $34,563,348,818,205, or $102,984 per person. This is 73% more than the total consumer debt of U.S. households, and 125% of the country's annual economic output.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying there shouldn't be exceptions like Ukraine... but for the most part the US is stupidly spending it's money and if we didn't spend a single penny for an entire year (which is impossible) then we'd still be in debt.

At some point, we have to bring in more than we're spending or we're screwed. Not Ukrainian screwed mind you, but we need better balance with ourselves before we try to help everyone and right now we're trying to force everyone and help everyone.

Focus on maybe 1 to 5 fires outside the US and everything else should be inside the US.

Not sure about russia. China is my bet. The UK has long been in decline and China is certainly on the rise economically. The West and the US are also starting to fade.
Globalisation has created increasing inequality.

I can't speak for everyonr, but I try to follow the world news, often things, politics and illness, start elsewhere then come to the US. The shooting in Slovakia yesterday is very upsetting.

Just because we defend ourselves doesn't mean we can't handle ... well ... anything

As for the rest of the world ... focusing on ourselves is wrong ?
Strictmichael75 · 61-69, M
It’s going to either China or Russia ruling the world

Democracy is the dictatorship of the masses

Millions upon millions care, they just don't get into aimless discussions of it on SW. But Americans are also like anyone else -- what happens at home is their top priority.
