Vatican to hold press conference on aliens, migrants of the third kind.

Pope Francis asked: "If, for example, tomorrow an expedition of Martians came, and some of them came to us, here…Martians, right? Green, with that long nose and big ears, just like children paint them…And one says, ‘But I want to be baptized!’ What would happen?”

If the Martians told the Pope that they wated to be circumcised, how would he answer them? If they asked him to throw a couple of their virgins into a volcano would he do it?

You are the one who introduced the Pope and the Martians.

I did. The Pope and the Martians is a hilarious situation. Even as a kid (a Catholic), I had always wondered if alien life forms knew about Jesus. I intuited something bizarre, a disconnect between us (created by God) and aliens from another universe.

Now, I know. There are no aliens, no other life forms. There is only me. You are another me. The Pope is another me also.

There is sure to be life on lots of planets throughout the universe just like there is life on all of the continents on Earth. But the distances between such planets are so great that we will ever know where life exists. Remember, humans have only been intelligent for about 100 years.

Everything you see, all those twinkling stars in the night sky, is part of you. Wow, I wish you can get out of your mindset created by science.

Not if you are serious about the meanings of innocence and the state of grace.

You should read James Blish' A Case of Conscience.

James' story is of a Jesuit who investigates an alien race that has no religion yet has a perfect, innate sense of morality, a situation which conflicts with Catholic teaching.

My garden is filled with trees, birds, hares, and wild flowers. They have no religion yet have a perfect, innate sense of morality. We are a race with religion and no grace.

The idea of Martians, life forms apart from humanity, turned us on our heads.

This upside down inside out paradigm began when we stepped out of ourselves to become an objective observer of reality. In an instant, we lost our omniscience and became a creature of evolution.

There are only fellow humans: me. You are all me. I talk to myself when I log in for a conversation. You are me. I know it sounds crazy to you. I am always having a conversation with myself whether I am here chatting with you or sipping my whiskey, alone in my garden, musing amidst the greenery before dinner. There is only me, always - except when I turn on the TV and see Joe Biden.
I'm sorry that you are stuck in the Twilight Zone.

I'm sorry that you are stuck in the Twilight Zone.

It is the Twilight Zone! You don't think I have doubts about my sanity? Those moments are fleeting but not infrequent. They are occasions for reality checks. Am I taking care of the body? Am I financially sound? Am I emotionally stable? I have no issues in all those areas and feel confident stepping into the Twilight Zone. Is this the Twilight Zone: having conversations here? No offense. I don't think the quality of minds here are any worse than those out there "in the real world" engaged in business, politics, religion, etc.

What you call the Twilight Zone is an alternate reality to this material world in which we live. The connection between the two is the body. This body is not the human body we know thru science.

The sum total of our knowledge shapes out perception of reality. You see a whole body intact. I don't. I see it in parts. Right now, I only get to see my hands on the keyboard and they are the only parts of the body that exist in real time. You "see" the entire body, not just its outer form but inner organs also, and maintain awareness of all that thus keeping them all in the field of existence.

What is the ramification of being able to step into the Twilight Zone? I can step back in to where you are, the material world of science. You are stuck in the material world. What happens when the "body" dies? Will I be better off than you?

That's a lot to think about.

I think you could absolutely baptize anyone, aliens are only aliens because they're not from here but we're the aliens on others planets somewhere light years away I'm sure. So that would be my answer.

@Diotrephes Nope and don't care. Religion has been stolen from cultures for decades and other cultures steal ideas from everyone else for decades.

They probably got the baptism idea from India, after seeing people being baptized in the Ganges.

Acts 8:36-38 (KJV) explains = "36 Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, “See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptized?”

37 [a]Then Philip said, “If you believe with all your heart, you may.”

And he answered and said, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.”

38 So he commanded the chariot to stand still. And both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him."

Not all Bible versions have Acts 8:37 = https://www.biblegateway.com/verse/en/Acts%208:37

This allows groups like the Catholics to baptize babies.

So, what has that got to do with what you asked?

Do you eve know what the biblical criteria for being baptized is?

The salient question is why nobody had been aware of the untenable paradigm of a universe beyond mankind.

Anything that can be perceived exists within the human consciousness. This is so obvious.
It’s often alleged that the Vatican knows more than they’re letting on about aliens, etc.
