I think my hyper mobility might be starting to become a bigger issue

I’ve been hyper mobile my whole life, I’m assuming it’s genetics because my mom and grandma are hyper mobile (double jointed for those not familiar with the term).

As a child I would W sit and have to wear special shoes. My mom tried to stop me from W sitting but I did it anyway because I didn’t understand the dangers of it (as a former autistic child, I tended to not take directions well until you give me the in depth reason why, otherwise I won’t take you seriously). I was always told I walked weird and I’ve always been super clumsy and bruise easily. The clumsiness is related to the fact that my joints are loose and jiggly.

My issue is that I’m not noticing it to start getting worse. I’m 27 now. When I was walking down the stairs yesterday I noticed how wobbly my knees were, they crunch, and snap back into place way more than they ever used too. Same with my ankles, toes, and wrists. I feel like Bambi when he first tried to learn to walk some days 😭

Other days I’m more balanced though.

Yes I would like to see a doctor one day. I don’t have health insurance at the moment, so in the future.

My concern is that both my mother and grandmother both eventually started losing a lot of the mobility. My mom is 46 and had to get a stint in her leg to help with blood flow and her hips lock up now and she used to be able to get her foot behind her head. My grandma was an ambulatory wheelchair user by the time she was in her late 50’s.
There is a condition called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS) which is characterised by hypermobility (amongst other related symptoms), one of the problems with this condition is that people with it can become incapacitated by it and lose mobility and suffer pain. As far as I am aware there is no cure but there are things that can help like specific exercises and supports/braces to aid posture etc. There are groups online who might be of some help.
