Mac and cheese

So, i’m italian and never had mac and cheese, cause in italy we don’t do this… but from movies i saw i always wanted to try it.
Yesterday i saw it at the store, of course industrial mac and cheese… so i was so happy when i warmed up my oven waiting for it to be ready.
The appearance looked very nice but as soon as i’ve put it into my mouth i felt like throwing up, soooooo disgusting, the pasta totally overcooked, lots of crap cheese and soooo salty, kinda disappointed🤬

So in other words, it tasted exactly how it looks. I've never had it either but it looks disgustingly greasy in every ad or picture imaginable. 😅

@CrazyMusicLover no, it looked so good in the movie home alone🤣
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@Sweetpoison It looks just as greasy as everywhere else 😭

It's how a stand up comedy would begin, like, there was this Italian guy wanting to try mac and cheese...
Fix it from scratch and bake it. You will like it.

Do it yourself
I have tried that too and it doesn't taste the same as homemade. I prefer ingredients from scratch

Various Mac 'n Cheese products, especially the pre-packaged "industrial" ones, vary greatly in quality.

Make you're own. Cook the pasta as you like it. Melt the cheese you like. Add some bacon bits or chicken or pork or whatever you like. You will love it. But yeah, the store-bought microwave kind is ... eh.

There's many different kinds of mac&cheese you should start with crafts mac&cheese that comes in a blue box and you just add milk and butter.

Oh dear!
Mind you, I’m not a fan either. I like traditional pasta recipes.
Make it yourself, industrial food is disgusting.

@UnderLockDown i agree

Home made is the only way to go!!
JoyfulSilence · 46-50, M
I make it from a box. You boil the pasta in water for seven minutes, then drain. Next, you add butter and milk, and then the packet of powdered cheese, and stir until mixed. It is OK. I often then add two cans of tuna.

@JoyfulSilence

Yes. Kraft Dinner mac n cheese suits me fine. The canned tuna is a tasty bonus.

Sweetie Pie's Mac and cheese:

"Guy Fieri visits Sweetie Pie’s in St. Louis to try out the diner’s famous macaroni and cheese. Owner Robbie Montgomery, who opened Sweetie Pie’s in 1997, shares her mac and cheese recipe with Guy. She starts by adding two pounds of Velveeta cheese to elbow macaroni. She then adds one pound each of shredded cheddar cheese and shredded Colby jack cheese. Robbie adds two huge spoons of sour cream to the mix. Guy helps her add butter, margarine, salt, pepper, sugar, five eggs and milk. Robbie whisks everything together and bakes it until the top is melted and brown. Guy digs in and claims that if they got him a stool and a bib, he’d stay there all day."

Made with highly suspect "industrial " cheese.
Imagine the fabrication facility that makes that. Phoooooooooey!!
Tracos · 51-55, M
Im impressed you tried!
TurtlePink · 22-25, F
There’s a million and 2 ways to make macaroni and cheese. Just make macaroni the Italian way and then add cheese
Sweetpoison · 36-40, F
@TurtlePink but i want it american way😫
TurtlePink · 22-25, F
@Sweetpoison you didn’t like it the American way tho
Sweetpoison · 36-40, F
@TurtlePink i think it was just a crappy brand

Nah, you have to have homemade and the cheeses should include a good Asiago, a reggiano and maybe a good cheddar. Heavy cream is a must and finish it under a broiler.

I agree with you, but my wife loves it. We agree not to have it at home unless I have an alternative.

I had some for dinner tonight :)
It would definitely be better if you made it from scratch and baked it, then you can also customize it however you want, including your preferred selection of cheese(s) :)
