Okay everyone, please help me

I have this coworker who is honestly, in every way, ...she just seems like a really good person.

But she never shuts up and it drives me WILD. Even when she is not talking, she hums. She's young and says a lot of pretty... unapplicable things. I know I was like this once too, so I try to give her grace.

It's so bad I almost have trouble making eye contact with her because she annoys me so much.

I feel so bad about it. She's sweet as pie.

How would you turn yourself around mentally?

I'd be like "what's with all the damn noise"
caccoon · 36-40
@deadgerbil yeah but then what?
deadgerbil · 26-30
@caccoon wait for a response
caccoon · 36-40
@deadgerbil yeah but how do you deal with further interactions
Sometimes I feel like I am like that 😔 but you have to ask yourself; why does it annoy you so bad? Is it distracting you from performing your job? Because that’s a major issue. If you’re trying to count money or deal with a customer or something that’s gonna mess you up and she’s doing that, you need to let her know or tell your supervisor. I know how it can be very uncomfortable to approach someone so sweet and tell them that what they think is harmless is actually bothering you but you shouldn’t have to suffer just because you’re a nice person and don’t wanna hurt anybody’s feelings 😔

@TurtleEclipseOfTheHeart yeah, it's hard. I am typically trying to deal with website issues and bugs or doing design work And it's majorly distracting for me because she interrupts with irrelevant or wandering commentary when I am trying to problemsolve or design

Headphones seem to be the best remedy

She needs to know she talks too much
SailorMarz · F
Usually my facial expressions are enough
caccoon · 36-40
@SailorMarz I'm trying to control mine because they're very telling 🤣
SailorMarz · F
@caccoon I'm the same way. I don't like being mean but don't push me 😂
lmao. I’m in the same boat kind of. I have a coworker who rambles about shit I don’t care about all day I’ve learned to tune her out I’m too tired and too busy to pretend to be entertained out of kindness 😅. I use to feel obligated to be nice and listen or at least pretend I’m listening but I think I’m just at the point of being so tired I don’t give a damn.
caccoon · 36-40
@Stark I'm sorry. You just have to sometimes.

I feel so mean but I just don't reply to some of the stuff she says because it's yeah
@caccoon lmao same. Sometimes I don’t even reply 😂😂
caccoon · 36-40
@Stark it makes me feel so bad but omg 😩😩
I think you'll have to be very direct and say it's distracting you.
caccoon · 36-40
@SlippingAway I have 😞
DownTheStreet · 56-60, M
It’s pretty simple. You get a can of whip cream, and when she opens her mouth to talk, fill it with whip cream. Like, so much that it comes out here nose. It’ll work, trust me.
caccoon · 36-40
@DownTheStreet how come?
DownTheStreet · 56-60, M
@caccoon it’s a tough situation tbh. The only thing I’d say are earbuds. Tough when you have a coworker who won’t stfu and always talks about petty stuff
caccoon · 36-40
@DownTheStreet only solution I've found as well.
I'd be straightforward about how you feel. Maybe with a little "I know the problem is me, not you" (regardless of whether that's entirely true) "but the solution can come from both sides. Would you help me out?".
caccoon · 36-40
@NerdyPotato totally, this is how I'll approach it.
@caccoon good luck!

You need to be clear & direct. I'd try to read her personality. If she's the type who has a fun side then humor can help. Otherwise a compromise has to be made. It will help her grow anyway.
SUPERVlXEN · F
My body language would tell it all after three attempts to kindly guiding them the correct way of behaving around me at work. Lol
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
I wouldn't know what to do either. 😕
caccoon · 36-40
@CrazyMusicLover yeah it's tough cause I've tried gently hinting but she is so annoying😩 and she's so sweet so UGHHH
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@caccoon I worked with a friend and sometimes I talked a lot too but when she told me to shut up I did. Then she left and a new girl came who not only talked but was playing on a phone a lot and tried to show me stuff and that was too much even for me.
caccoon · 36-40
@CrazyMusicLover I'll try being more honest with her in a gentle way
Coppercoil · M
Vote her off the island.
caccoon · 36-40
@Coppercoil not an option
Coppercoil · M
@caccoon then dont give her a rose..
caccoon · 36-40
@Coppercoil not helpful
zeitgeist0 · 31-35, M
@zeitgeist0 What is your problem 🤣🤣🤣😅
Classified · M
Tell her to be quiet
Shipwrecked · 46-50, M

You have to be totally direct and tell her, I love hearing your stories however while I am working it's really distracting me and making my job harder, can we please just concentrate on our jobs

She is so clueless and possibly trying to be nice, you never know, possibly has asd
