Strange as it might seem I am not relishing it being Friday today!
I came back to find lots of reports were required by HR for the upcoming board meeting next week. Although it is a state agency they still have board meetings of senior officers to ascertain if there are areas we should all do better in.
Of course there are, but efficiencies must be top team driven but not in the way that this team are seeking to do it. Lots of things like this can make people look to jump before they are pushed. It can be just as ruthless as in the public sector without the need of cost cutting, which of course should be top down and not bottom up!
So many managers think it is the team at fault when in truth it is they themselves who are stifling the dynamics of the department and adding to it with gimmicks and other senseless costs which don’t assist in getting the job done efficiently.
