Going back into the office
Well, the manager told us last week that because COVID numbers are going back down in the area, all of us remote workers may be going back into the office soon, but she doesn’t know when yet. I have mixed feelings.
On one hand, it’ll be nice to get out of the house every day. Get some exercise, even if that just means walking to and from the car. Even though I’m not friends with any coworkers and pretty introverted, it’ll still be nice just to see human faces. I’ve also missed the cafeteria downstairs. Man, that place is delicious. They make the best Nashville hot chicken every Tuesday. It’s pricey but totally worth it. And their pasta is also to die for!
On the other hand, I’m not at all a morning person, and now I’ll have to get used to getting up an hour earlier so I can shower, put on some nice clothes, etc., and then drive 30 minutes to the office. Yuck. I’ve loved being able to get up 15 minutes before my shift, run to my office chair, and clock in from home. Now it’ll be more like an hour and a half. Also, the crappy office coffee. I used to put up with it because it’s free and keeps me awake. But once I started working from home, I started making my own, high quality coffee every day. Now I’ll have to start drinking the crappy stuff again.
Anyway, I’m going to try my best to enjoy working from home for these last few days or weeks or however long it is.
