Pondering the positive qualities of my new temp
Like I mentioned in a post yesterday, now I actually feel bad complaining about Jackson, my summer youth temp. Sure he gets annoying with his political talk and his interest in politics gets directly get in the way of his work, but he isn't as bad as I might make him out to be when I bitch about him here. So right now, I'm going to talk about what I like about him instead.
This one's a bit silly, but Jackson's man strength sure comes in handy in the office, lol. Before, heavier thing Bryanna and I would have to lift together, he's usually able to do by himself. Makes it a little less embarrassing than us having to go into the main office and ask one of our other male co-workers to do it for us. Yesterday, I joked about having a man in the office, which I now feel bad about too. Real talk though: he's helpful in that regard.
He's also pretty good at math. I'm terrible at it, so when we're doing the more mathematical stuff in our job, he's pretty quick to draw up larger sums in his head, whereas it takes me a moment or two to count them all up. That or I'll just use a calculator, lol. But no calculator needed when I got Jackson working with me.
Our overarching interest may differ greatly, but we do share a few things in common. We both like some of the same music! He's more into country, but he was naming off a few rock bands he likes that I do as well. He also happens to be a gamer and enjoys the game Elden Ring, which just so happens to be what I'm currently playing. He also seems to be family-oriented. Although his family sounds very conservative (unsurprisingly) and probably not like my ideal crowd, I can still appreciate someone else who loves their family like I do mine.
It's just too bad he has to be so into politics like he is, especially at his age. I don't judge one for their hobbies and interests so long as it's not hurting anybody, but with how inconsiderate he gets with his political spiels and how it distracts him from doing his job, that's just something I can't abide. I really hope he stays focused now that I've talked to him about it, because he's a good kid who I enjoy having around most of the time. I don't want to have to see him land himself in trouble again.
