It can happen if the pain is too intense... But if the pain is that intense, you'd like to check in with a doctor, as it might point to something.
But yeah some people have the tendency to develop nausea and vomiting independent of the pain. For instance, personally, my anxiety goes up during PMS and a symptom of that I have is constant nausea which is exaggerated during pms.

Check in with a doc to be sure and stay well hydrated plus try some hot packs for the cramps.

@Moon3624 it's awful I know but a range of things can happen. Different people experience different things: Vomiting, diarrhoea, migraines, to name but a few.
