I had an aunt who insisted on hosting dinner for a few years but didn't want anyone to show up until like 330 and then have dinner at 4. It was awful an annoying and pretty much wasted the whole holiday just sitting and waiting and then rushing in through the door to wait.

Then my mother started hosting and it was back to normal people show up in the morning and you sit watching parades all day and ear around 3 and nap and drink to 8
