Will overcharge protection protect a battery

I accidentally left my car battery on boost overnight as I was interrupted and forgot to turn it off the charger has overcharge protection I’m worried it might explode will it be ok ?

what was the light showing this morning ? float or boost ?
Mattbennet · 51-55, M
@ButterRobot it’s still on and it’s on boost that has me it’s almost 1:00 here in the U.K. I just hope nothing bad happens

@Mattbennet what are the switch settings ?
Mattbennet · 51-55, M
@ButterRobot trickle or boost I put it on boost then got interrupted then locked the workshop wasn’t until just now I remembered I’d left it on

Is it a lead acid battery?
Mattbennet · 51-55, M
@Virgo79 I think it’s a sealed battery
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
@Mattbennet possible, but some still can have water added.
Not all

@Mattbennet I hope you had a good nights sleep and realize now that your fears did not happen. Do you know why the lead acid battery is still used in ICE vehicles? They don't explode when they are charged for hours on end by the alternator.

@Mattbennet yeah..like i said, if the gauge was showing negligible current then i think its basically kept the battery at float..so all good.

@ButterRobot hopefully your right I’m just mad that I forgot that’s why I hate being interrupted when I’m doing things like this all because a sheep escaped

@Mattbennet Im the same. Too easy to get distracted
I doubt it will explode, especially if you've disconnected the charger. Worst case scenario, you're out 50$ for a new battery
Mattbennet · 51-55, M
@ImperialAerosolKidFromEP I didn’t I put it on boost then got interrupted by a delivery and forgot to unplug it ‘ it has overload protection with that stop it being overcharged
@Mattbennet if it says it has overcharge protection and then doesn't protect from overcharge, that sounds like false advertising to me

@ImperialAerosolKidFromEP like I say it’s a new changer so I’m not used to it if it’s like you say that it reduces the voltage as it charges but it’s on boost which worries me
