@Watching My dad is the same way. He says to me one day, "you hear that?" "that's an exhaust leak." I said, I don't hear anything. It's a small one that started at the flex pipe. My mechanic quoted me $1000 USD to fix. Because the pipe has a catalytic converter on both ends of the pipe, and he can't just cut out the part that needs fixed, he needs that whole part replaced new.

Every Ford product I have owned has turned into a basket case, from a faulty fuel pump that burned my truck to the ground to electrical gremlins in a Lincoln that was barely two, and of course, failed Lincoln air suspension. I had a Lincoln that cost about half of a Mercedes that was older, yet the Lincoln cost more than the Mercedes and its maintenance, though it was a couple of years newer when I parted ways with the Lincoln after it was totaled while parked.

I had a 1995 Ford station wagon. Apparently, those year models had a transmission problem. And so did mine. Got rid of it fairly quickly after mine went bad, and went with Toyota. My 1997 Toyota Camry has 259,000 something miles on it, and it still runs.
The trick is, keep up on the oil changes, and make sure all fluids are good.
Now I drive a 2000 Camry V6, the 97 is a 4 cylinder. My 2000 I bought maybe 4 or 5 years ago, and it had 110,000 miles on it. It's now up to 141,000.

@Mattbennet When I was a junior in high school, the class I was in, for the day we were making buttons. So I decided to make my own. Because my friend didn't like Fords, I took it one step further and wrote on it, "Friends don't let friend's drive Fords" He says, ummm maybe you shouldn't be wearing that at school.
