Does your current vehicle have any quirks or oddities?

Mine has one where the power lock buttons will lock the doors, but you have to unlock them manually/individually.

Ive got an F250 Diesel thats quirky with several things. Put in LED tail lights and it made the antilock brake system freak out and transmission shift funny. Took a while to figure that one out. Turbocharger doesn't use a wastegate like most do Mine uses a Valve to dump the pressure off until the engine temp is in the "normal " range. Whatever that may be. Damn thing has 36 quarts of coolant in it and a radiator the size of a desk so the normal range is hard to get to on a cold winter day. Have to block off airflow to the radiator with a plastic plate so it warms up

I call mine the anxiety car, it’s always beeping about something or another.

The biggest fail of my car is the window opening button is very close to where the wing mirror button is and there have been times where I’ve accidentally hit the wrong button whilst driving at 80mph on the motorway and the wing mirrors close in. I’ve actually broken two sets of wing mirrors because of it. The first time I didn’t anticipate what damage would be caused by reopening the mirrors at 80mph and the second time I forgot about what happened the first time 😂🤣

When the temp hits below like 50 degrees the engine never fully warms despite the coolant being full and having tried a couple different thermostats.
icedsky · 51-55, M
@CestManan Block your radiator a little. They make plastic plates specifically for different makes and models. I have to use one on a pickup truck in the winter
CestManan · 46-50, F
@icedsky I have had several different cars over the years and it is weird because some hold a steady temperature no matter what and others tend not to. Not like overheating but just not steady.
icedsky · 51-55, M
@CestManan both my trucks..fords better idea lol . One is gas powered. V8 temp stays rock steady not a lot of movement on the gauge no matter what the season or what Im hauling. The diesel on the other hand. Can barely get it to the normal on the gauge on a 90 degree day hauling a camper on it. Turn the damn heater on in that truck and I can cook a whole turkey!
Yeh. Me too. It's so aggravating and it will cost me at least $300 to get that all fixed and yes I did check around and that's the cheapest, anywhere.

When I press the up button on my driver-side window, and let go, the window rises, nears the top, then stops short, and falls back down. It should go all the way, and did when I got the car originally new. Somewhere along the way it broke. The only way to make it go all the way is to keep my finger on the button. I should get it fixed but I am too lazy.
Mine is a house on wheels.

There is one window that if you leave it rolled down and then open the door, the window breaks. This happened dramatically one time and almost a few times since that! You can kind of tell that there is a certain resistance before you open the door all the way. I do not know why this happens. 🚗

Well my old Chevy trailblazer only had one key lock on the front driver's side. That was a real pain when the fobs battery gave out as well as the key lock refused to work.
SubstantialKick · 36-40, M
@DeWayfarer Yeah my Malibu has one lock as well. I thought the battery in my remote was dying at one point, but the buttons were just worn and so I removed them and all I have to do is touch the little contacts underneath with the tip of a pin.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@SubstantialKick oh the battery was out alright. When I was forced to replace it, it worked just fine.

Maybe you have a bad motor/s? Or maybe the wires somehow crossed funny?

My rear window wiper only works when I bring it to the dealer to fix it 🙄
SubstantialKick · 36-40, M
That sucks when you go to get a car problem looked at and it doesn't happen when you need it to 😂.
MellyMel22 · F
@SubstantialKick I know. It def does 😆
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
Well.. I got a bicycle. I guess not having a car is a quirk in of itself.

BUT if I could wish for a car. I'd go for this 2001 Saturn S-series coup. The strange thing is it has three doors
ChiefJustWalks · 26-30
Yeah the engine is blown so it does this weird thing where I can't drive it 🤷

Well it actually still starts & drives but yeah it's screwed 😂 I'ma just go buy car #10 next lmao
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
Check engine light that appears to be a "ghost code" ; it eventually goes off by itself. If you try to read the code, it says "no codes stored"
SubstantialKick · 36-40, M
@uncalled4 Sounds like a recurring issue that just comes and goes 🤔.
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
@SubstantialKick I think it's the ECM itself. No code.
