I was brought up a strict Catholic. As far back as I learned to think for myself I had doubts but childhood indoctrination and fear of "losing one's soul due to pride in one's own intellect" is very difficult to overcome and takes a long time. I'd say two things more than anything helped me to reject it : the Christian Brothers' addiction to physical punishment and use of fear and inculcation of guilt; and my mother's sheer hypocrisy when she fought tooth and nail to break up a love affair I developed with a girl whom I came to worship - my mother claimed it was for religious reasons; it took me a long time to fully realise it was sheer selfish jealousy and hypocrisy, by which time it was too late. If that's religion, count me out.

As in Puja with Papa in our home temple? Yes! Enough. God is always happy with me and this way, parent too.
