Feel loved, feel appreciated questions.

When I see these questions I draw a blank, I never thought about any of this stuff. I don't know why anyone would. It's never in my life been an issue. Now, this puzzles me as there is a disconnect between my own experiences and apparently the experiences of a majority of people. It's made me think a lot as to why that might be.

I'm wondering if perhaps the way I was taught it's more a matter of you have certain duties to perform as opposed to you have to feel loved, feel appreciated etc. From my view point it's about duty to society and fulfilling that duty, work hard, obey the law, treat people right. If you do all that you've done what is required of you and all is right with the world.

Apparently from what I'm seeing here a lot of other people concentrate on whether they feel loved or appreciated. To me, yes these are important things but they kind of go without saying. They exist somewhere in the back ground, the thing to pay attention to is your duty to others and to civilization. It's more about sacrifice than about getting appreciation. I never once pondered whether I was loved or appreciated I always figured I am by some and by others I am not but I have to keep fulfilling my responsibilities. That is the main thing, not how much people thank me for it or love me for it. The idea seems absurd in light of what I'm used to.
