What 'unnecessaries' do you accumulate when you visit IKEA?

I sometimes end up not getting the one thing I go for..... but end up spending a fortune 🤪
I look straight ahead.
No side glances. No detours. 😂
@JimboSaturn
Hehe I stand guilty of doing the same.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@CookieCrumbs I knew it! Hurry up, I want some meatballs :P

Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
I try to avoid Ikea for that reason
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
@Lacemaker i had a huge stash of candle holders that i had to give away. And kitchen stuff too. It's obscene
Lacemaker · 41-45, F
@Jenny1234
Lol, I know. What were we thinking of at the time? 🤔😝
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
@Lacemaker I know right!
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
Swedish Meatballs in my stomach.
Lacemaker · 41-45, F
@JimboSaturn
And endless coffee!
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
@JimboSaturn I’ve only stopped at the restaurant once in all the times I’ve been there. I thought it was good but I don’t remember what I ate
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@Jenny1234 That's my favourite part lol
Keepitsimple · 51-55, F
I’ve come to realize I hate IKEA’s style But I like to walk around the store for some reason.
Keepitsimple · 51-55, F
@Lacemaker it’s cheap stuff but I think I’m fascinated with how they run the store and the fact that it has a restaurant I guess.
Lacemaker · 41-45, F
@Keepitsimple Yes, it's a one-off. It made someone a billionaire anyway 💰💰💰
Keepitsimple · 51-55, F
@Lacemaker for sure..it’s something different that nobody has bothered to copy.
LadyJ · F
Everything 😏🤣..I avoid the place now
LadyJ · F
@Lacemaker I have one close by,but I just pretend it's not there 🙈🙈🤣
Lacemaker · 41-45, F
@LadyJ How d'you explain away that huge blue and yellow box on the horizon?? 💙💛💙
LadyJ · F
@Lacemaker I look away and think nice things 🤣🤣
DragonFruit · 61-69, M
I don't visit IKEA.
OldBrit · 61-69, M
IKEA trips demand a plan even to bin numbers. In and out no looking about etc my son and I once managed less than 20 mins to get a desk and wardrobe
@OldBrit
I do the same thing. I check the website to get the aisle-bin number.

But- I enjoy looking around. 😁
Lacemaker · 41-45, F
@OldBrit
I'm impressed! 🥇
bugeye · 26-30, F
i almost never go to IKEA but i do know when i'm out shopping and at the corner of my eye i spot a greggs i know there's a good chance of a sausage roll break
Lacemaker · 41-45, F
@bugeye Very tempting! 🤣
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
I don't buy that garbage, it's not even fit to be kindling/firewood

I'll stick to my US made, built to last, solid wood furniture...
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@wildbill83 Yup...IKEA is crap
TexChik · F
I have never been. And there is one in town.
Lacemaker · 41-45, F
@TexChik You're missing out on so much stuff....you don't actually need, lol
TexChik · F
@Lacemaker Hahahaha. I have so much furniture! My mentor left me her estate and the furniture alone has filled 4 houses. This stuff came fully assembled ! 🤣
Lacemaker · 41-45, F
@TexChik Oh wow! That's lucky. No need for flat-pack then 👍🏻
GJOFJ3 · 61-69, M
I haven’t been to IKEA since 2010
Bought some shelves for the basement nothing else
Lacemaker · 41-45, F
@GJOFJ3 Maybe it's just a woman thing then.
It's like being in a candy store....you can't resist!
JoyfulSilence · 46-50, M
Last time I visited the item I wanted, a chair, was on display, yet out of stock.

A lot of things were out of stock due to pandemic shortages.
JoyfulSilence · 46-50, M
@Lacemaker

I do not think the one in the box is broken. I am just lazy.

The bubby one needs new pads. The leathery covering (not sure if is is real leather) is bad. I suspect the only fix is just to replace them. The metal and plastic parts are fine. The broken one has good pads just bad plastic parts. Those would need replacing. The metal parts are fine, though.

My new one has no pads to bubble.
Lacemaker · 41-45, F
@JoyfulSilence 🤪
You've lost me.... in the Battle of the Chairs 🤣
JoyfulSilence · 46-50, M
@Lacemaker

The first two look like this:

Except the first one has a lot of the black covering of the pads peeled off. Once it bubbled I peeled it off like sunburned skin! The second one is broken in the back rear of the armrests (before I said the top. I was mistaken).

I do not have a photo of the new one since I do not even recall what it looks like and am too lazy to get up now and look at the box.

@Degbeme Renamed by many!
Heartlander · 80-89, M
The secret is to walk as fast as you can and just look at the ground, with your eyes just high enough to see the "how do I get out of here" signs.
