What work of art inspires you the most?

For me, it's always been Modigliani for some odd reason I can't explain.

@SomeMichGuy I absolutely loved the symphony (The 8th I think) the one that includes the Hallejuah chorus.
@Grateful4you Hmmm...

The Hallelujah Chorus is part of G. F. Händel's Messiah, typically performed at Christmas. (This is sung by a whole big chorus.) Often, non-members of the chorus will sing this chorus. (It is traditional to stand for it, if one can; this was begun by Queen Victoria, as her recognition of Jesus' place as greater than her own.)

You might be thinking of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony--AKA The Choral Symphony--which has, as its closing, the Ode to Joy, based upon the poem by the same name by a guy named Schiller. (This starts with a singer, then this singer interacts with a big chorus, then more with a small set of special singers, and lots with the chorus.) This has become a staple in Japan at the New Year.

My favorite artists are Picasso, Matisse and Van Gogh. My favorite paintings are these:
@bijouxbroussard

Love them all... the van Gogh painting you shared is one of my favourites of his...
@bijouxbroussard Those are lovely. I used to have a nice, scaled- down version of Rodin's "Rape of the Sabine Women", Marble is always an un-expected surprise to the touch

Beautiful art piece....
Remeber us talking about his beautiful beautiful masterpieces??

Modigliani will always be one of my most favourite artists...

But I cant explain the feeling I had when I stood in front of MonaLisa paintings on my first visit to Louvre Museume...

I just couldnt hold my tears back and my knees felt so weak...

A masterpiece that belongs to human race....

Modigliani’s work is pretty amazing. I grew up with this picture on the wall of the piano room in my parents’ home.
@bijouxbroussard

I love love love his sculptures too..

My favourite..

@Soossie I've never seen the sculptures. These are beautiful. I realize how commercial they have become but I still love the painter of "Light" they are awesome. In Sedona Az. I saw a few and they just draw a person in. In one boutique I saw a men's opal ring for about One Thousand, now with the diminishing opal mines in Aus. they would be worth way much more. (Kicks myself)
@Grateful4you

Auch!! But that's ok... I actually know what you mean about them becoming commercial..

He has many more better sculptures... do search for them and fall in love with him again...

The Sistine Chapel ceiling - Never seen in person myself but I like the art and the story behind it.
@Thevy29 I've heard once they cleaned it the colors were actually quite bright. I bet it's awesome.
Modigliani's style was unique with the elongated faces he painted sometimes.

For me, it's the era of Romanticism, especially the works of Lawrence Alma-Tadema and John William Waterhouse.
@LilMissAnonyMOUSE It was EXACTLY the elongated faces. My own drawings have a similar style. Another reason I love the "Heads" of Easter Island, again, the elongated noses seem to speak to me.
