@Eternity Probably not. I got lucky. This was a small, skinny thing I encountered in the Santa Monica Mountains. If it had been a rattlesnake or something more aggressive, that might've been more of a problem...

Given the reaction times a snake would require to save itself from eagles or hawks, it seems almost inconcievable that the snake wouldn't be capable of biting you in time, at least if it saw you coming.

@Eternity your covering a few meters second while sprinting. To get bitten it would need to have it’s head angled in your direction and be already in a position to strike. And even then I doubt it.
