@Eternity Probably not. I got lucky. This was a small, skinny thing I encountered in the Santa Monica Mountains. If it had been a rattlesnake or something more aggressive, that might've been more of a problem...

@SW-User I've been considering ankle guards or something.

@BlueVeins i feel like if it saw me coming it would move out of the way...at least I hope. I don't think snakes pick fights with humans.

I'm more worried about accidentally stepping on one. There's a good bit of snakes out where I sprint at

@Eternity I think you're correct, but it's not inconcievable that the snake could feel trapped for some reason, or possibly lay low to try and avoid detection.

@Eternity also, snakes don't see well so it might not have time to escape.

@Eternity your covering a few meters second while sprinting. To get bitten it would need to have it’s head angled in your direction and be already in a position to strike. And even then I doubt it.
