I dreamt I was at a party and Aldous Huxley was there

then a friend of mine comes to me and says" who's that guy who won't stop talking, he's so annoying" and I'm like " DUDE, don't talk like that, that's Aldous Huxley !!!!"

I'm shocked that so many people don't know who Huxley was 🙀

I think we can turn this into a script.

@MarkPaul I had another one where I was at this lavish party hanging out with McJagger, I often dream of huge parties.

@reflectingmonkey Don't quote me on this, but I think we have a TV series on our hands. Put on your best suit; we're going to pitch this to the networks.

@Eyeamhere you must have heard of the band "the doors"? that name comes from a book by Aldous Huxley "the doors of perception". but his most popular book is probably "a brave new world", about a dystopian future, a statement on modern civilisation.

@reflectingmonkey I read Doors to Perception but never knew it's where the band got their name!

Was he funny or serious?

I read many of his novels - Crome Yellow, the deeply moving Point, Counterpoint, the absurd Those Barren Leaves and my absolute favorite The Genius and the Goddess, And Island which took me 3 reads to get...and yeah BNW...
reflectingmonkey · 51-55, M
@fun4us2b he was serious, deep, passionate, thinking carefully of his words, like he is in every interview I ever saw of him. he pretty much always has the same tone of voice.
reflectingmonkey · 51-55, M
@fun4us2b I would love to read more stuff from him, I only read brave new world and doors of perception.

@reflectingmonkey The Genius and the Goddess is not to be missed...It's very accessible and has a lot of good stuff about human relations in it. Crome Yellow is harder, but I think beautifully written. Point, Counterpoint is really heavy, not an easy read, but unforgettable, however, might be lightly dated now.

What a strange new world you were in

Remind me who he was again? Astronomer? Occultist? Character in a Lovecraft story? 🤷‍♂️
JupiterDreams · 31-35
@Zaphod42 The author of A Brave New World. He also hated George Orwell 🙀
Zaphod42 · 46-50, M
@JupiterDreams Right! Great book, although of the books I’ve read written about dystopian futures I like This Perfect Day the best.
i dont know that dude either
reflectingmonkey · 51-55, M
