this is an all too common symptom of our times
the confusion of the [b]SIGN[/b], for the [i]signifer[/i] (the thing the sign represents).
your discomfort comes from the realization tha pretty much NOthing is as advertized, and the dismay from the understanding that most of the ordinary folk? got no more sence than a pile of wet leather.
