If Americans write "meters" instead of "metres" (the street is 300 meters long), how do they write "meters" as in parking meters?

If they are both the same, how do they distinguish between the two?

@HeadGirl I need not explain anything to you. It's slang. You are demonizing something that is simply harmless. Don't you have anything better to be outraged over?

@SW-User Why are you folks ganging up on me just because I neither understand nor use American slang? I can't help being English, can I?
SW-User
@HeadGirl We aren't. I know many English people and they've never come across as rude as you do. You have asked for clarification and we have provided you our honest answers, only to be critiqued and insulted by you.

@SW-User You are just a nasty little troll and I refuse to interact with you any longer.

@HeadGirl She speaks the truth. So have I and honestly if they don’t know slang, they’ve never made anything out of it! Now do we out of theirs...

@HeadGirl And we don’t need a grammar Nazi to correct us!
