The last time I used a travellers cheque must be over thirty years ago I think, and then it was only in China. I just use a credit card now.

Credit cards and using debit cards at banks for a fee. It’s risky though, if you put the wrong PIN number in the machine then it will keep the card till you go inside the bank to show an ID/Passport. If the bank is closed you have to wait until the next day when it’s open to do that. Could severely mess up some travel plans.

@cherokeepatti Im surprised the banks that used to issue the checks havent invented some sort of "travel card"that serves the same purpose as rhe checks. That would seem like a no-brainer.

I miss travellers cheques. I’m in Acapulco right now and have to go to the bank every 2-3 days to withdraw money. It’s a pain

@jshm2 So what you are saying 🤔 is that the banks DO issue cards specifically for travel use that essentially serve the same function as the cheques. That makes sense. Is there any limit to the amount you can put on the cards?

Nearly every bank issued bank issued ATM card is linked to Visa or Mastercard these cards and will access local ATMS on all continents. Just contact your bank before you leave to notify them you will be overseas so they dont stop your card due to a "suspicious" overseas purchase.😷

While traveler's checks might be harder to find than they used to be, they're still available. You may be able to purchase them at some banks, credit unions and travel-related service organizations.May 2, 2022

A credit card?

Many banks no longer issue travelers checks but Amex and Visa still issue them. Cashing them overseas can be annoying as less people now have them.
Everywhere expects you to just go to an ATM at the airport or whereever and then go to a money exchange place or simply use your credit card although this means that you will be charged an international fee with each swipe.
