Hating yourself and your country seems more irrational
BlueVeins · 22-25
Of course it's irrational to define yourself by the political entity under whose territorial claims you were born or whatever.
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
Yes it's irrational since the country of your birth is accidental.
If your parents were from elsewhere would it be 'patriotic' to support anything their country of origin did ?
Patriotism is a useful tool to wave in times of hardship especially if your country is on a war footing.
At what point does 'patriotism' become 'Jingoism' ?
At what point does jingoism become racism ?
And who gets to decide ?

Too much is irrational!

Not at all. Unless the overwhelming majority of humans throughout history have been irrational.
