I Hate Saying Goodbye

I have the hardest time telling someone goodbye and it’s not the “goodbye” that ends a relationship. It’s simply the finality of the phrase in general that bothers me.

I feel the same way about saying I love you. Especially if it’s expected at the end of a visit or a phone call.

I know that telling someone you love them should be the last thing they hear from you, should it truly be the last thing they hear; but more often than not, it’s not.

So, I despise saying goodbye to someone and saying I love you, makes my tongue thick....

But I will shout “I love you” when there are those moments that pierce my belly and burst my heart to scream. I let “I love you“ slip and pour from my lips and the most random times and moments, but that’s what love is... it’s not an obligation or an expectation, or even a god damn mechanical habit that you’re just supposed to do.

Love hollers, stands up, holds us, embraces us and asks us that we be vulnerable and open to it at any given moment. And when we pay credit where credit is due... love flourishes.

Oh shit....
I think I just vented 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣😘

“Goodbye” I agree there’s a finality to it. The end of. I generally say, “bye” or “seeya.”

“I love you” should be used when it’s truly meant. The “I love you” you give a child, a parent is different than what gives a lover.

Great post!

@SW-User oh gosh... if I would have added the parent and children bit in here, I would have written a novel!
I agree with your thoughts on that... parents and children should be smothered with I love you’s ❤️
Both piss poor words that describe nothing!

The only “good” bye is a good riddance. There is no good bye otherwise, it’s always a bad bye to me because I’ll miss them.

I love you is the freebie handed out like candy so much, so often and for so very little that it’s cheapened to the level of no meaning at all...

But there are other ways to say what one truly feels
