@cherokeepatti you sis,are a born surviver,Good Bless.Im down to the basics of turning the fire on as soon as I get up(the dog demands it) and waiting til the money runs out,but it hasnt run out yet!

@pedrohedgerow We need to get a space heater for the bathroom. They make some that are very energy efficient and have great safety features. The reason is that today my oncologist said he was switching my chemo to the one I had two years ago. One of the drugs can cause neuropathy in the feet, hands and throat (warned me not to drink anything cold)….I need to heat the bathroom warmer than usual because the shower floor takes time to warm up with just hot water on it. I have to wear gloves if I take anything out of the refrigerator or freezer too.

We had this problem last year for like 4 days straight. I slept in a mummy bag on the floor with the dog to keep him warm. I also borrowed a space heater, one of the oil ones from a neighbor, and then hung up sheets and stuff in any doorways to keep the heat to that room since the heater can't heat much space.
You can bake things, fill the bathtub with really hot water.
I'm glad you got it fixed so easily. Ours keeps getting water in it from an intake pipe somehow.

OH, Patti!!! How EXTREMELY wonderful!!! The boy is so, soooo clever!!! AND he is taking care of ALL of you in his own way. I'll bet he feels like a million bucks right about now...keeping his family WARM!!!

@4meAndyou Ray went ahead and called the a/c guy back and told him he wanted him to do preventative maintenance on the furnace. He came out around noon and checked everything out. Said the igniter needed to be replaced because it wouldn’t be long till it went out and couldn’t be cleaned again. He had to drive to Moore to get the part and drive back. Left the igniter here for the boy & Ray to look at. I think we’ll be good till the a/c is being used. Charged $150 and Ray thought he should have gotten a tip and said next time he would get a good one.

@cherokeepatti Well...short term and long term, BOTH your guys are taking care of things, and you will ALL be warm this winter!

Oh no! Wish I could do something.
cherokeepatti · 70-79, F
@Nitedoc Thank you. We got it fixed. Ray called his a/c guy who came out the next day and replaced the igniter and did a checkup. . He said it was so corroded that it wouldn’t last long as it was and left it with me to show Ray. I am still using a safe space heater to preheat the bathroom before showering. Even if the house is warm the floor of the shower stays so cool I don’t want my feet on it. Either that or wear Crocs in the shower. It doesn’t take much to make my feet or fingers to tingle if I touch anything cold even for a couple of seconds.

Vo tec over university any day
cherokeepatti · 70-79, F
@MarineBob He would benefit from a two-year trade college after he graduates. I don’t know what he will do. He said it’s hard to get hired right after vo-tech if you are 18. Older adults with more life experience seem to have an easier time of getting those jobs.
