What could be the cause of a laptop cursor disappearing and the laptop freezing every few minutes?

I don't have a mouse plugged in.
I'm using the touchpad that came with the laptop.

This HP has been nothing but issues.
Trying to wait til end of the year for a new one

Arent those onessupposed to be really good? That's the one that I bought for a girl. Gosh I hope it doesnt screw her up. Shes starting college soon. Does it happen often? I'll go buy her a different one if that starts happening.maybe I'll ask her if that's happening yet? Shes only had it for maybe two months

It could be any number of things, really. Something hardware related, maybe some corrupted registry entries, might need to run disk defrag, maybe viruses... There is a high possibility of the issue having a whole array of causes.

Your computer is trying to navigate between two mice (built in and external). It sometime freezes as it can't make a decision.

You may want to check into updated drivers, but depending on the age of your computer, the hardware could be the problem (it's causing the confusion).

@Northwest I'm not using an external. It kept making that "device plugged in" sound, so I clicked it. Looks like the issue is my wifi adapter

@iamnikki I misread your post. If you're using a USB-attached wireless adapter, then you could have a number of issues. It depends on which version of USB, whether the adapter is the same USB version as the laptop, etc.

There is a computer expert here I'll find him.
@iamnikki Have you tried resetting it ?
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@softspokenman don't know how
@iamnikki Go to 'All SETTINGS' then click on 'UPDATE & SECURITY' look for 'RESET' and follow the instructions.

I dunno. I am not techy. I'm lucky this one isn't giving me any trouble
