Where did I go

Where have I been or where have I gone, Seeking a familiar path, a way out I hope to find, Surrounded by family, yet feeling so alone, Fleeing’ from the hounds of devastation, That continue to naw at my heart and mind. Aimlessly wandering, seeking to elude the howl, Dusk falls and twilight at last, Even the sounds of night cannot stifle the growl, Now I find myself sinking in the quicksands of my past. No more hopeful dreams to dream, no more light ahead, For now I must accept the fact, you got what you wanted, A younger guy instead. Oh, to relive that moment in time, How I would make it my best- To make that cherished moment mine, For only then would the demons in my mind be put to rest.
