I am glad it is working out for you. Since you are two consenting adults, it is nobody's business. Obviously, a few loudmouths and jerks have had their say. I have no particular reason to believe money is a factor in this, but even if it were, if it works for both of you, for whatever reasons, it is truly none of anyone else's business. Happiness and connection with another are hard to find in this world. People should be cheering you on, not coming up with negative stereotypes.

Lots, maybe most, of great relationships are complementary. Like a team were one plays the front court and the other the back back court and teammates don't compete with one another. One is enthusiastic the other wise, or one is Yin and the other Yang, and together you complement one another's strengths.

The blockbuster romance stories of my generation like My Fair Lady and the Sound of Music depicted romances with pretty big age differences. I don't recall anyone after seeing the movies commenting about Eliza Doolittle being a gold digger. Most thought that Henry Higgins would still be head over heels with her till the end of eternity.
