I Believe Life Is About The Journey Not The Destination

(I can't write worth a damn, but I can ramble fairly well)

When I was nineteen I decided to go on a personal trip to find out more about religion or sprituality. It started in my home state of Maine and took me all the way to South Carolina. Well it started online with so much research that I simply became more confused. I studied so many different perspectives on many different paths of theology, but I couldn't find anything that really called out to me. So I decided to get in touch with some friends online and went on a a journey.
The first stop was in New Hampshire where we stayed with with a few people we knew and talked quite a bit about everything from Christianity to assorted pagan beliefs. On the day that we left there Stephen King, who was dropping off his kids to be babysat by our friend, showed up which was very random. Contrary to his online presence he is actially kind of a low key guy when he's out and about.
Next, we headed to Mass to meet another friend who was coming back from Britain. She went out to meet a guy whom she had been talking to online, but apparently it didn't go as well as planned. We drove her to her house where she told us about the trip. She told us about how he lives a Gorean lifestyle that she was just really interested in and that they decided that they were better off freinds. We left soon after and made our way back into NH where we stayed in somw shack thanks to another friend we knew. It wasn't easy sleeping there since it was infested with carpenter ants. I can still see the stain on the walls of the wood shack where they apparently tried killing them with oven cleaner.
After several nights there we headed down to SC where we met up with with a a women who had been talking to one of the guys who was along for this trip and we ended up staying with her two kids for a few months. While there I went to a pagan gathering of atleast 300+. There were from all walks of spirituality. Christian mysticism, Various types of Wiccans, Druids, etc. I got to see a handfasting for the first time between two gay men. I was invited to a spiritual circle where various covens gathered to talk about their various different spiritual topics ranging from local organizations and their different traditions to stories of their life experiences.
Finally, I met my future ex wife and we went back to Maine. We soon realized we acted more like siblings rather than lovers which caused us to eventually get a divorce. We are still friends, and she likes to tell me about her experiences in Santeria which is a whole belief system that I still don't quite undrstand fully.
In the end I decided I didn't need religion or spirituality to move forward, but I have to admit it makes for some interesting people who have unique outlooks on life.

It does add color to the journey, doesn't it? ...... That is a fascinating story.
