I Am Trying to Find Happiness

I had the nicest thing happen to me recently!
So, I play this little "wooden skill toy game" that's called Kendama. It translates to "sword ball" and it's like a more complicated version of ball-in-a-cup.

Well, there was an event here in Denver about a year ago - the Rocky Mountain Rumble, and they had a competition between the best people in the world. I am not even close to being considered good - so I was not there to compete. I just wanted to see.

Anyway I had been buying many kendamas from this one company, called "Sol" - Spanish for sun. It is a smaller company and I bought one of each type of Kendama they made. I sent emails asking about things and suggesting some future ideas that I would like - and it was just kind of nice and they were really positive and friendly.
I actually met one of the brothers (it's owned by a pair of brothers) at the Denver event. In fact, he guessed it was me! He saw me and was like, "Nate in Denver?" Lol - I have no idea how he did it - it's not like we traded pics of each other.

Anyway the even was really fun and I enjoyed watching it and meeting all the people involved with Kendama.

Well, I ended up stopping purchasing extra kendamas - and I had been buying them fairly frequently and consistently. I just did not have as much extra money as I used to have - a big reason was that my father got sick - and I sold my tools so that I could both help him heal for a bit, and then it looked like I was going to have to move home to help for a long period of time.

I am exceedingly happy to report that my father healed almost completely - despite the fact the doctors said he wouldn't ever walk again. It's only been 10 months and he's already been playing tennis for 3 of them. He truly received a miracle. I am so so pleased, and any hardship I endured because of this - I just am happy I was able to help - and I have chosen to view my financial losses as assisting in some way - be it because of God - or quantum physics... Whatever - it worked and I am thankful.

But - I haven't been buying anything for myself really. I have been playing "catch up" with bills and trying to repurchase the power tools I sold (well, new ones - I didn't chase down the used ones I had sold on the 2nd hand market).

Well, I opened my mailbox, expecting to find a couple of bills. And what was there staring at me? A NEW KENDAMA BOX!!! I recognized it immediately, and I opened it up and found not only a brand new Kendama in the box, but also a t shirt!
In addition... There was a hand-written note - written by both of the brothers. Half is from one, the other half from the other... It just says nice things, hoping life is treating me well, and saying they miss my presence in the Kendama world. They did not know about any of my troubles - and so them sending this care package was just... Beyond caring.

I wrote them a few emails back, almost immediately. I sincerely cried a little bit after receiving them. I have been so bitter and feeling so mistreated by the world - and to receive such kindness, just really hit me deeply and affected me in a positive way.

I really suggest you buy something from their company - it is Sol Kendamas and they are truly amazing people.

As soon as I'm able to buy another toy - it's certainly going to be from them.

I kept the note and intend to frame it... But I'm kinda geeky, so....

Thanks for reading - I hope you have a great day!
Glad your Dad is doing better . That is great he is playing tennis . The brothers sound like great folks - what a great story !
