I Am Boring

I don't keep people entertained for very long. A lot of the time when I'm conversing with someone, I can just tell when they don't care to talk with me and are only continuing to do so they don't seem rude. Their responses become brief, they don't make eye contact wit me and just so obviously want to get out of the conversation. 😂

Even here on SW, some users I really like and have conversed with through PMs usually end up leaving shortly after a few replies. 😆 But not that I hold it against them, I actually commend them for being honest about not wanting to talk to me. But I'm not trying to call anyone out or anything like that, I'm only using that as an example of how I'm just not that interesting. I'm awkward, incompetent and am just not a fun person to be around or even chat with. 😕

I still try to engage people and keep things going whenever I find myself talking to someone, especially if they're someone I admire. But it's usually in vain on my part... I've accepted that I'm a boring person a long time ago. Whenever someone tries telling me I'm not, I always say to them: try having one conversation with me. ;)

I often find myself thinking this way. I've come to understand that we are own worst critic though. I mean, just two days ago I got a surprise. There is this person at work that I often think finds me boring, doesn't really like me, and has no interest in me at all. Two days ago, she told me she would love for us to hang out some time. 😳 We never truly know what another person thinks of us. Too often we see our own insecurities rather than what is actually right in front of us. We have to be careful not to project our own thoughts onto others. People sense it. It puts a wall between you and them. Just be yourself, fake a little confidence and try not to be so judgmental of yourself! You'll find your kindred spirits in time :)

I don't think it applies to me. I have too much evidence against me to believe that it's just me being insecure. 😓 But you do make a great a point.

@Carver: toooften we see the evidence we SEEK rather than ALL of the real evidence. Perception is EVERYTHING! For instance, say I get frustrated/insecure about my relationship so I start looking for signs for anything I should worry about. I'll begin to notice every single little thing and interpret it my own way. The more I focus, the more I see until I've got an entire mental book written about all the instance he seemed to not care, forget me, be selfish, etc. Until one day, I can't find a single positive thing and then boom: our relationship would fail...not because of the things I 'thought' he was doing...but because of my insecurities and my withdrawal. its the same with you and your 'evidence' Be careful not to allow your perception to be clouded with insecurity.
