Vegetarians can consume milk and eggs, vegans can't. There're certain varieties of it and some call themselves vegetarian while they eat fish and chicken, but that's just cheating. Idea of vegetarianism is not to kill for eating, and that of veganism is complete abandonment of any animal product.
