I Want to Be a Singer

I want to sing all the time. Always have, since I was a kid. Music was my inspiration growing up, from watching Soul Train and American Bandstand and hearing music all the time in my head. When I'm in the car and start singing, I catch myself and turn on the radio. I used to sing with my friends when we hung out. Just songs we liked.
My voice is thrashed from years of smoking on and off and screaming at my son as a single mom in the 90s. Yelling was money as a carny. I only lost my voice a few times. I love blues, oldies, classic rock, and my favorite classic r&b.
When Prince died, it stunned me. Oh my God those early love songs were sizzling HOT stuff. So creative, so talented and he just reeked coolness. xoxo
My son and I love to sing in the car. I used to interrupt a conversation sometimes and say: You know why?: Why?

'Cause everbody was kung foo fighting, those cats were fast as lightning....lol

@soulsugar do you do karaoke? If so what tunes do you sing?
When a song gets on my nerves and won't leave, I'll go to Spotify and listen to something else. Right now Selena is singing in my head, the jukebox of my life:

I'll be dreaming of you tonight. Till tomorrow, I'll be holding you tight. And there's no where in the world.....I'd rather be
Than here in my room, dreaming about you and me...
I always am constantly singing :)

Aww i love singing too... i sang to my boys. i sing to my daugther too but she just says oh mum stop singing! But i still sing...
I am sure your voice is lovely. sometimes that husky smoker voice is very appealing.. think Bonnie Tyler... and some of the greats who sing that way
I like to karaoke, but I don't get out much and do it. I used to sing Evil Ways, Let's Stay Together, and Bad Case Of Loving You.
Purple Rain reminds me of my first lover. It was our breakup song so I dedicated it to him. "It's such a shame our friendship had to end."

Great selection. Have you ever done that to Purple Rain?
