Expert marksmen? Basic training would have been sufficient. How many people were killed and injured when swat stormed the place?

Had some patrons with basic training been carrying a lot of people wold be alive and healthy.

Most of us who carry spend enough time at the range to know how to properly use our firearms. People that don't own guns, don't know how to use guns. And so they assume that the rest of us, who do own guns, also don't know how to use them. I think before anyone should weigh in on the gun debate, you should have at least purchased a gun and spent some time at the range with it. You are all like a bunch of single people trying to give couples marriage advice lol

No, hunk, semi-autos are not convertible. He was only able to shoot so many because, first, the club was a soft target, aka gun-free zone, secondly, because men these days grow up being taught to cower and try to hide while waiting for police to handle it, rather than fight. And even without guns, if a few of the patrons had rushed the shooter, he would only have had time to shoot one or two before being taken down.

The Orlando guy didn't have an automatic weapon, it was semi automatic like all the rifles sold here in the states. Only fire arms dealers can buy and sell automatic weapons and you have to have a special permit granted to you by the government

Well it didn't help her....but depending how crazy the killer was it possibly helped everyone else that would have been within firing range had there been a gun involved.

If you want to talk about gun control, regardless of whether you are for or against it, then talk about gun control. I see too many people try to distract from common sense ideas because, "but, but, crime still happens!" Yes, we all know people break laws, folks. Laws don't stop crime. Laws provide procedures, deterrents, and, most importantly, a way to *respond to crime*.

What professional training? If you are talking civilian level firearms and situational training being enough to curb a mass terror shooting.....that's a bit of a stretch man. A dark...loud...packed in with 300 people bar...thats one hell of a situation. Like you said...it is possible that not even highly trained swat was able to stamp the shooter out without taking a few innocent lives with him.

A few guns in a dark, loud, and crowded bar where a random person was spraying bullets? Maybe if these gun owners were expert marksman wearing tactical gear....otherwise I'm picturing a few panicked gun owners likely adding to the body count with a few kills of their own.

That's possible, and I honestly don't know. I do know that some of the victims were shot by the police that responded. Right now no one knows how many he actually killed and how many the police killed

I don't doubt the ability of those that carry a gun and have been trained with it to use it. But real life terror situations are not the shooting range.

Where I live, you can't concealed carry a handgun if you've been drinking. I'm sure that doesn't stop some people, but it does stop me
