I Believe Everything Happens For a Reason

Yes, everything happens for a reason. But not the way this throw away phrase usually means it.

Every event and action in our lives is the result of a long series of connected events and moments that built to create the current experienced reality. But not only that, all those events and experiences build up to shape us and how we experience the current reality. Our emotion and our outlook on life is shaped by who we are and by our experience of it.

So yes, everything happens for a reason. But for the most part that reason is found somewhere in the chain of events that lead up to the moment.

Even things like natural disasters happen for a reason. The reason is very complex and has to do with changing temperatures and can probably be traced back to very tiny changes in geography. But there is still a moment that set it all in motion.
