I Have Blocked Someone

Actually on WhatsApp, not here..
A random number sent me a "Hi".. I replied: "Hi. Do I know you?".. "No"; he replied!! "I don't know you either" he continued!!! we exchanged couple messages and he mentioned his name and asked about mine, I told him I am not interested and will not tell my name to random people... he insisted that he just want to be friend with me and asked about my name several times and I kept replying that I am interested in his friendship.. then I deleted the conversation, but did not block him then because I thought he understood!!
Few weeks later, he sent another "Hi"... I doubted that he is the same guy, so I asked: "do you know me?". "No" he replied and repeated the same story that he just wants to be friend with me and insisted to know my name and why I am not interested...bla bla bla... I made it clear and told him several times that I do not friend with random strangers and do not give my number to random people and he kept asking: why you don't want to friend with me? any specific reason? why do you not try me?!!! etc. It was so much annoying!!
So finally I had no choice but to block him, otherwise, he would have kept bothering me with his stupid questions all the time

Sorry for your inconvenience ... apps can be useful to get in contact with people we do know but they are also something dangerous which can give us serious headaches...one can´t be careful enough...

exactly... we just have to use apps wisely and be careful as much as we can.. and thank you :)

My parents, who were by no means into all this new fangled social media and talking to strangers thing got those on Skype. Actually I think I have probably thousand contact attempts from strangers on Skype on a phone I no longer use, I just ignore those.

Oh I got dozens of contact attempts on skype as well, but that is different.. you don't use your personal number on skype, I mean it is optional, but on whatsapp, the mobile number, which is very personal, is the only mean to use the app

@meemo70: Or the groups on WhatsApp: http://tech.blorge.com/2015/05/04/block-strangers-whatsapp/138403 - apparently according to quick Googling this as well as the random "warcallers" are a big problem on WA, which has about five times the userbase of Skype with everyone having a number so randomly trying numbers quickly gets someone.

I put my WhatsApp setting to private so only people on my contact list can message me. Otherwise I can spam it and block them. He sounds so desperate, it's scary.
meemo70 · 51-55, M
@Fussybear: it is scary! I don't know if he has a hidden agenda or something!! You can't easily trust people nowadays.
The reason I didn't set my WhatsApp to private only is because I expect calls from people who are not actually strangers yet I don't have their number in my contact list
Fussybear · 31-35, F
@meemo70: yes I understand why you don't. It's creepy... Just be careful
meemo70 · 51-55, M
@Fussybear: thanks :)

You did the right thing to block him....I hate creeps like that...on my WhatsApp to..
Who knows where they get our numbers from??
meemo70 · 51-55, M
True.. I think they just pick a random number and see your profile pic, if they like it, then they start bothering you lol... my profile pic was me with my four kids lol... after that, I made it available to my contacts only ;)
