I Love Great Movie Scenes

"Now you listen to me, I'm an advertising man, not a red herring. I've got a job, a secretary, a mother, two ex-wives and several bartenders that depend upon me, and I don't intend to disappoint them all by getting myself 'slightly' killed." - Roger Thornhill

I enjoy this bit of dialogue with James Mason as Phillip VanDamm:

"You fellows could use a little less training from the CIA and a little more from the Actor's Studio."

"I suppose you want me to play dead!"

"Your very next role. You will be very convincing, I assure you."

Sooo much brilliant dialogue in this film.

possibly Archie's greatest role

Certainly one of the top five. I confess to having a slight obsession with His Girl Friday as well, but that's partly because of the oh-so-fabulous Roz.

If you haven't read it, do look up Todd McEwen's essay on "Cary Grant's Suit." Granta 2006. Marvelous.

@Rambler: You can find info on the screenings at FathomEvents.com They teamed up with Turner Classic Movies to do a whole bunch of movies, about one a month, but for two days only. You just punch in your zipcode for a list of theaters near you. Last month was Singing in the Rain. Nest week is An Affair to Remember. Some of the others thru the year are Some Like It Hot, The Graduate, Cassablanca - it's a nice list.

Thanks, I'll check that out! I'd love to see Bogart on the big screen.

@Rambler: I saw Singin' last month and was unprepared for how different it was on the big screen. Totally shocked.

One of the all time best. Did you know it's got nationwide (in the US) showings on the big screen at various theaters in April? I can't wait.

not a red herring but a flimflam.
A fantastic movie, my favorite Hitchcock.
