I 60's Canings

I just walked out to post some Christmas cards and overheard a boy, perhaps 13 or 14, explaining rather nervously to his mother why he had been excluded from a woodwork class. I know what he'd have got at school in my day. I wonder what was in store for him at home today?

Probably not, I agree. But I was struck by how polite and respectful he was towards his mother - no question of trying to laugh it off as some boys might.
