I Believe True Love Is Very Rare

No Exception

All I ever wanted
was that one special being
The exception to the rules of love
and all the gladness she could bring

I searched my world both high and low
but never was she found
Slowly, but ever surely
It brought my spirits down

But then there came a day
of the great epiphany
where I realized that an exception
was never meant to be

I'm sure it happens now and then
but I know it's not for me
to be loved the way I thought of once
and that thought has set me free

I know now that it isn't coming
and it won't ever take it's hold
the wheels of time are spinning out
and I know I'm growing old

I'm not bitter or despondant
no feelings of dismay
I just know that thoughts of a single love
are thoughts I must betray

So I allow myself the freedom
to love all those I find
That make a strong connection
with my soul and with my mind
