Is this self explanatory

Does anyone not get this after reading it? I've been listening to a guy argue that it makes no sense and that's not how a piston ring works

@Scubaguy027: I'm no mechanic, but if the piston ring fit too tight, it seems like it would be pointless, since it wouldn't be sealing anything or moving the oil.

perhaps tell him to think of it as a seal. like the rubber sort used around glass lids.

I don't know the first thing about Piston Rings but I think the first paragraph could be phrased in a less complicated way. I was confused by the second paragraph until I realized that there is a semi colon after the word "walls". Its a little hard to see on this image. I would probably replace the semi colon with a period and form a new sentence though.
