remember 2012 ? yeah you could have Cable TV , a Phone and the Internet for under 80 $ a month , sigh ! the good old days , nowadays its like 99 $ for the Phone and Internet , no Cable TV and thats supposed to be a Bargain
i remember '92 when internet was $12.99 then you got your ass whacked with charges if you used up all your time. (and you could hear the modem making those buzzing, whirring, bleeping sounds while it tried to connect(
phones finally folded up like those star trek communicators. (cellular) and i had DSS and satellite t.v. pain in the ass when it snowed but worth it.
(oh and most portable t.v's on the side of 'you can still see the screen' were still too big and heavy to carry.. eh.)
and laser disc players didn't have a record. dammit.
only a matter of time i'd be getting DVDs but be put on a wait list because there's no machines for me to play them on. (i think that was '96?)
this march we're going from copper installations to fiber optic finally.
another epic retired into the void of historical documentation.
i'm soo happy when my provider stopped that 'usage' restriction... it got very expensive to work online in the early 90s. but, i was happy i didn't have to be at any gov. agency so i could have access, that was a real pain in the rectum.
Comcast is so high (only cable with them) and fortunately for me I found a local company that has Internet for less than what they want. They control areas and so can charge as they want.
