I Don't Do Drugs

I don't do drugs for recreational or "inspirational" purposes. The inspiration is phoney and soon wears off. I have seen too many of my friends screw up their lives getting into hard core narcotics and I know it is a failed lifestyle plan for losers that leads nowhere other than the poorhouse, the courthouse, the lockup and the graveyard. I take prescription drugs on sound medical advice but not like Elvis, the ones that I take are not addictive and I don't abuse them. I've knocked on heaven's door once or twice after some youthful experimentation with LSD during the psychedelic culture of the 1960s. The dealers never tell you how dangerous that stuff can be except to try and entice you to sample their ware. I have also had some very fast rides to hospital in an ambulance after a heart attack, another with a benign brain tumour and even one more after a massive life threatening seizure. I've learned my lesson that life is fragile and these days I avoid unnecessary risks which can make it even shorter than it already is. I quit cigarettes when I became a Jesus freak forty years ago and was baptised by full immersion at the Foursquare Gospel Chapel in Greenacre Sydney, AU. Alcohol prohibition failed in the U.S. in the 1920s. My brother who thought I believe in fairies drank himself to death sixteen years ago at 54 yrs of age. One more point for good measure if I may. There is a case for progressive decriminalisation of marijuana but first we need to know more about it and we need more public debate. There is no medical evidence that it does any harm (IMHO). In the mean time I would rather stay on the right side of the law.
