I Write Poetry

I don't know.

When words are thrown into frozen rivers.
Leaving howling winds to call your name.
Heavy footed steps go nowhere,
bringing you back the way you came.
Sad eyed reflections look upon you.
They shine down from an empty sky.
Void of stars or moon to guide you,
but you never look up or even try.
You splash in puddles filled with rainbows.
And jump the cracks along the street.
You’d turn the rope if we were skipping,
but in your head your thoughts run deep.
To sleepless dreams your mind’s oblivious.
For you it’s just what children do.
So the same old path that’s always trodden,
stays caught in time - so nothing’s new.

And yet it is all new, every time. Sweet

Thank you.
