I Have Something to Say

We Still Worry Over Our Children.

My son is 25 and in his own flat now with a good group of friends around him and my daughter is 24 and in her own house with her fiance and their son..
I divorced their dad when they were 4/5 and have bought them up since, but last year I made the decision to move town to be with my new partner which is a 100 miles away from them now. Even though they are both very capable and responsible people as a mum we always worry about them no matter what age they are.
My son is a manager of a major store and last night had to wrestle with two separate people shop lifting in his store alongside their resident security guard. The two shoplifters were arrested and taken into custody but my son suffered an injury and was taken to hospital..
He has a grade 2 tear to his ham strings in his calf and is in agony and laid up now..I've waited to hear on his progress to see if I was needed to travel over but of course he said no mum I'm fine just in pain but can cope, his sister is checking in on him but as mothers I don't think it ever gets any easier with our children, no matter what age they become, if their hurting we are hurting and I've been a sniffling wreck all afternoon till I spoke to him..
I guess that is what being parents is all about..and of course they make all that worry worth while at the end of the day..

I don't know if this applies right now or not but, sometimes we want our mommas even when we tell them no.

I know and I am planning to go over but my son is fiercely independent and doesn't like fuss, so Im giving him his space first, he's not alone in his flat he shares with a friend from work so that's a little better..
@Primnproper: But that doesn't mean you can't call every hour or so...😉

That's what its like for us parents and even worse where I'm not close at hand anymore..

I guess we never stop being a parent no matter how old the child. 💟

That is very true..we don't always realise that when we hold them as babies..that it never gets easier...lol

I cannot wait for the weekend to be over so I can quit worrying about everyone. But then my weekend is gone, poof! I thought it would get easier as the kids got older, but now I just worry about different things! --DW

I have 3 grown children and 7 grandkids. Believe me, I love them all dearly, but having kids is a "life sentence!"
Primnproper · 56-60, F
