I Have a Birth Defect

I was born with polymastia. Ever since birth, I had these four spots below my nipples, in two lines down my abdomen. We didn't think much of them, and just though they were moles.

I went into puberty at around 10, and a little over a year later, after my breasts had started developing, I noticed the "moles" had started slightly developing as well, slightly showing little bumps on them, similar to my nipples.

At 10, I had an examination where my parents and me were told they were in fact nipples, a total of four. I was kind of scared, but the doctors were unsure whether or not there was going to be any extra breast tissue with the nipples in the future.

When I was 12, my breasts were almost C-cups, and at this point, two of the other 'breasts' had been growing for a short while as well, becoming a slightly raised area around two of the extra nipples.

Now that I'm 16, I have a pair of DD-cups with a pair of D-cups right below them. All of them are shaped like regular breasts, and the extra nipples look just like my normal ones.

I wear a regular bra and a smaller, strapless bra below it when I'm at school and in public or with friends, and most of my friends know about my condition, and are very accepting. I still wear slightly baggy clothes so it doesn't show so obviously, because I still get stares in public.

I'm open for any questions if you have some :)

Oh dear, two can be enough trouble.... I can't even imagine having four!
Karenandthegirls · 46-50, F
All true, Keiko.... I've had my own experiences with hormone sensitivities and such.
But this is Isabella's thread! Isabella....? We'd love your thoughts on this!
And my own take on the possibility of macromastia is to wait and see. At fourteen, more growth is very likely, and it would be very hard to say if it's macromastic growth yet.

I'm sorry you have to go through this. I cant imagine how this would affect you. I had C cups by 11years old and it really bothered me because I got attention from older guys that I did not want. I hope things are well and you continue to have supportive friends
morgangray · 31-35
The thing is, as long as your health (including mental health) is not affected, I don't think it's healthy to dwell on things as a birth defect, just a variation.

We are, after all, ALL different, and this is just a less common difference.

Strange how these genetic anomalies in humans has increased dramatically since say like 20 or more years ago. If it's not this, it's gigantomastia/macromastia and females entering puberty much much sooner than normally would be, there has got to be something in the food/water supply that has to account for this.
keikokusanagi · 31-35, F
[c=#BF0080]Ahh I see what you mean so both sets have different band sizes i would presume, yes? Finding something both bandsize and cupsize wise must be kind of a pain finding something in your size and fits comfortably too. I seem to be on and off weight and my bandsize seems to fluctuate up and down to the point of annoyance, finding a 26-28 bandsize in my cupsize is a pain as i would only be able to find them on Amazon or something like that. Do you have to special order your bras at all, I can see that could be possibly an issue in the future maybe other than that wear what makes you feel comfortable and not like your in a straight jacket. Like the positioning of your lower set breasts is that still technically on your ribcage or slightly below it because wearing something too tight around anything below your ribcage can lead to other health issues.[/c]
keikokusanagi · 31-35, F
Hyperprolactinemia can lead to macromastia because of the huge increase in prolactin secretion from the pituitary gland, which causes the breasts to gain either more fat or breast tissue/mammary glands. As well as the cause of lactation without ever being pregnant or without intentionally trying to induce.
keikokusanagi · 31-35, F
Though one question would be is if that eventually might be the case what would Isabella do wear'em all loud and proud and not give a fuck what other people think people the only person who can hurt you emotionally/mentally is yourself either directly or indirectly and/or it's how you let things affect you as well. One way to know if this could be a potentiality is to figure out how much they grow on a monthly basis and figure out if the rate overall is increasing and they are on macromastic growth way or not/etc. It's all up to genetics (including pre-dispositions), environment, hormone sensitivities and diet.

I know you would probably just want to be "normal", but this doesnt sound like the worst condition you could have. Are you considering corective surgery at some point?
sadie210 · F
wow my cousin had this but she had it surgically removed as my uncle is pretty rich. when I was younger I thought it was pretty cool although now im positive I was wrong.
KnightRanger · 56-60, M
That's actually kind of cool! Interesting, anyway... I have heard of this condition, but I had never actually encountered anyone with it. I'm sure it comes with challenges, but consider: if you lived back in, say, the 16th or 17th centuries, you might have been considered a witch and, depending on where you lived, hung or burned at the stake for it! 😮 So any minor inconveniences you may be dealing with now are probably relatively mild in comparison... ;-)

Thank you! What can I say, I'm a historian by avocation, and much of my academic training. That tends to provide a certain... perspective! ;-)

Must be kind of awkward trying to get dressed in the hot and humid providing rather or not one has an air conditioner or other cooling system in your place Isabella, because a cooler environment and not so humid makes getting dressed so much easier you know. I have difficulty getting my bra on when it's so damn hot and humid it sticks to your skin and makes it difficult to shift around, must be even more difficult trying to get both bras to cooperate to put them on, or adjust them/etc.

It's good to hear that you have surrounded yourself with supportive friends. That's one of the most important things to have. :)
keikokusanagi · 31-35, F
As long as you are happy with how you feel about yourself that's all that really matters :)
keikokusanagi · 31-35, F
Only way to know for sure is if your breasts are 3% or more of your body mass/weight but other than that yeah pretty much wait and see. Yeah true more growth is to be expected especially with having polymastia more breast tissue is going to encourage more growth naturally by shear nature of how breast tissue behaves.
keikokusanagi · 31-35, F
Yeah not having proper air conditioning here sucks a lot.... -_-
At times it's hotter inside than it is outside the apartment where I live.
It's kind of amazing I haven't had heat stroke again, inside or outside in the hot and humid. I like warm weather usually but not to this degree of insanity.
wuiop2 · 41-45
Isabella, I must say that you have some true friends. Those who see you for your chest alone are not true friends....though you know this, of course. :)

Be you, nobody else. (smiles warmly)
keikokusanagi · 31-35, F
Yeah especially if it was in combination with macromastia/gigantomastia that would be some serious trolling on the part of the universe.
Karenandthegirls · 46-50, F
I was actually thinking that I really hope she doesn't get too much bigger.
Pappappero · 31-35, M
OMG, this is so cool, i'm so curious about this condition, care for a chat?

[c=#BF0080]That's actually quite a valid question I can't believe I forgot to ask about that.[/c]

I was born with a finger with dried peeling skin on it I don't know what it is it's the only one that is different when I was born
They are part of you, I've read about it many times and have spoker with others that are the same as you
keikokusanagi · 31-35, F
Also some people seem to be effected by such things more than others, or it is delayed to some extent.
melovepreggo · 36-40, M
An the development of them as well. That has to be honestly extremely rare. Thank you for sharing.
keikokusanagi · 31-35, F
My question to you Isabella is, how do you view/feel about your polymastia?
SW-User
How fascinating. I have never come across that before.
SoggedNapped · 31-35, M
Wow hi-
What do you think about your shape?
