Why Do we focus on the Bad some one does, and completely ignore all the good things they have done?

I look at Lance Armstrong (hero of mine who fell from grace) raised over 600 million dollars for charity) Rolf Harris, Bill Crosby and many more. Is it our culture, the mass media or is it human nature?

Lance Armstrong's offenses seem like childsplay compared to Rolf Harris and Bill Cosby. I wouldn't even think to put these three together and question why we focus on the bad. Rolf Harris was convicted of indecent assault with females from age 8-19. Yeah, not forgivable in my world.

I agree with what you're saying. I think it's hard for us to forgive a person when we've put them up on this pedestal. Lance Armstrong, was amazing! I realize he's only human, but he cheated his way to win the tour de france 7 times. He lied repeatedly, only to be found out later. His arrogance is what makes him unforgivable in my eyes. He's a narcissist who says he would still be keeping up the lie, if there hadn't been a federal investigation. I would be willing to forgive him if he showed some humility, but it's not in him. That makes him ugly to me, no matter what he's achieved. He doesn't even care that he raced against others who weren't doped up, who trained their whole lives too, legally.
He leaves a very bad taste in my mouth.

@rottenrobi: yes, same with me re bad taste, but I was just thinking about all the good he did to. I probably should not have put examples with my question. They were the first to pop into my mind as I wrote. Every one is caught up with the people, not the actual question
🤔

True, lol, not the best guys to lump together. I won't forget the positives Lance Armstrong has done, but his mistakes, were too big for me to over look and forget. Like with everything, as time goes on, the negatives and positives fade a bit. He's only human, and as a whole, human beings make mistakes.

Lance Armstrong did so much to raise awareness for prostate cancer, and he cheated, he didn't actually hurt anyone, different league to Rolf Harris, Bill Crosby or Jimmy Saville

Rolf Harris abused kids. Nearly every kid loved him and after what he did he doesn't deserve any respect.

Come on now... give us examples and not ones where they haven't been out and out liars.

@MalteseFalconPunch: I was devastated when LA confessed, I had read his books, believed in what he said. But he still did so much good. He must earn points for that, surely?
